The concept includes all aspects of the operation and even includes you, our guests. The cornerstones of the environmental concept are:

The Mangosteen is practically invisible from the seaside. The soft, earth tones are very hard to spot when away from the resort. Visual impact on the environment is minimal, respecting the Islands looks and not abusing them.

All wastewater in the resort, from showers and Jacuzzis as well as from the kitchen, toilets etc. is running in underground pipes on natural slope directly into our water recycling system. The system is located in a little house at the lowest point of our property, and it works with 6 large tanks, cleaning the water in different steps. The end result is water we can actually use in the garden if it is not raining enough. We do not release any water into the public system or the sea. As a consequence of the water recycling plant, we need to use soft, biologically degradable cleaning liquids in every department, including our own laundry, because otherwise the bacteria in the plant will die and the system could not work properly.[/az_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][az_blank_divider height_value=”30″][az_single_image image=”5908″ image_mode=”img-full-responsive” image_alignment=”aligncenter”][az_blank_divider height_value=”30″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row section_mode=”fluid”][vc_column][az_single_image image=”15155″ image_mode=”img-full-responsive” image_alignment=”aligncenter” animation_loading=”yes” animation_loading_effects=”scale_up”][az_blank_divider][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row sectionoverlayopacity=”0.70″ video_opacity_overlay=”0.70″][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][az_column_text]
Since over 15 years, we separate the garbage and deliver it straight to the relevant recycling factories. Paper, steel and aluminum cans, plastic bottles and all glass is not going to waste! In fact, the recycling companies are buying it from us, and the money goes into a fund to sponsor various team events. Our garbage volume therefore is limited to a few bags per week, containing mainly wet kitchen waste.

Water comes from two deep wells, which deliver great quality water, which is filtered before pumped to the resort. We also have public water access, but we use it only when necessary.

Towels are only replaced and washed when you leave them on the floor. Bed linens are changed every 3 days instead of daily, unless you request daily fresh linen.

The swimming pool is salt water treated. The only product added to the water is salt, no chemicals are used at all. Considering the size of the pool, the amount of chemicals saved is quite considerable. Pool water overflows into the environment during rain, so it does make a difference. Of course, your skin will also love it!

LED bulbs help reducing energy consumption and new air conditioning systems are inverter systems, which use only about half of the energy used before. Various electronic timers are controlling dozens of light zones to turn them on and off when necessary. At night (after midnight), the resort lights are reduced to a minimum.

Newest and most efficient Inverter Technology helps saving energy. The new models are consuming roughly half of the usual standard air conditioners. They also run very smoothly and quietly.

All villas are constructed with 10 cm insulation material under the roof and a 10 cm gap to allow for air flow. Natural air ventilation of the roofs is often forgotten, and it is especially important in hot countries with high humidity. A room which doesn’t heat up much, doesn’t need much cooling.

Garbage Recycling
