Healthy, fresh and delicious

A famous Sanskrit quotation from the ancient Vedas says “Annam Brahmeti Vyajanat” means – Food is a Creator. This means that we living beings are creation of food which clearly indicates that “We are what we Eat”.

As we have evolved, things have become increasingly refined, the natural processes of food growth, storage and cooking have been replaced with unnatural methods & various chemicals being used, which lead to low quality foods, low in nutrients & other supplements resulting in weak immune system and different lifestyle disorders in people.

Ayurveda Cuisine

With Ayurveda Cuisine we try to use the natural elements in food to assist the body in its day-to-day processes without placing unnecessary strain on our major metabolic organs and simultaneously building body’s own natural strength.

Ayurveda, or traditional Indian medicine, takes a holistic approach to health that looks closely at the effects of diet and other lifestyle factors on your physical, mental and spiritual well-being. According to the Ayurvedic system, there is no single diet that is right for everyone. The food you eat has either a balancing or aggravating effect on your body, depending on your constitutional type, or “Dosha.”[/az_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][az_single_image image=”1200″ image_mode=”img-full-responsive” image_alignment=”aligncenter”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][az_lightbox_image_gallery image=”3786″ images_gallery=”3788,3787,3786,3785,3784,3783,3782,3781,3780,3778,3777,3776″ animation_loading=”yes” animation_loading_effects=”scale_up” gallery_name=”Ayurveda Cuisine”][az_blank_divider][az_lightbox_image_gallery image=”3832″ images_gallery=”3831,3830,3829,3828,3827,3826,3825,3824,3823,3821″ animation_loading=”yes” animation_loading_effects=”scale_up” gallery_name=”Life Drinks”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][az_column_text]

Our Chefs are using only the best and healthiest ingredients available, combining great taste with freshness and health benefits. Unfortunately, the trend of using more Sugar and MSG (monosodium glutamate) for Thai food in local restaurants is just getting worse and worse. Both “ingredients” are highly addictive, and many Thais now just eat nothing without them anymore. Most of them are unaware of the dangers. Eating at the Mangosteen Restaurant however means, staying away from these negative trends.

Enjoy your healthy Satvik meals every day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our sets are well balanced, light but nutritious and very tasty. Losing weight, feeling light and fresh without starving or missing anything.

Natural Green Hydroponics Vegetables: We are purchasing all vegetables from one of the best local hydroponic and organic farms, which is the guarantee for best, healthy quality. Prices for organic vegetables are much higher but we believe your health is worth more.

Rice-Bran Cooking Oil: The ideal cooking oil for many Thai dishes, as the smoke point is much higher than the one of Palm Oil, which is otherwise used. As Palm Oil is by far the cheapest, it is the cooking oil of choice at all local restaurants. It is at the same time the unhealthiest oil available, so we are not using it at all.

Gourmet Olive Oil, Cold-Pressed: Using only best cold-pressed olive oil for all our western cuisine, our guests can easily taste the difference. Olive oils are imported from Spain and expensive here in Thailand, therefore not commonly used in most restaurants. Enjoy our healthy Mediterranean dishes, prepared with gourmet olive oil only.

Organic Brown Jasmine Rice & Riceberry: Try our AAA quality organic Rice and Riceberry. As usual, we only purchase the absolute best quality available in Thailand. This kind of rice is not served anywhere in Phuket apart from one well know Thai Restaurant in Phuket.

[/az_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][az_column_text]

Ayurveda & Six Tastes (Shad Rasas)

In Ayurvedic Cuisine, food is classified by the effect it has on our body. There are six primary tastes in Ayurvedic cuisine, each representing different types of foods that play individual roles in balancing your Dosha. Sweet tastes have a strengthening effect, sour tastes stimulate the digestive system, salty tastes maintain your water and electrolyte balance, pungent tastes improve digestion and absorption of nutrients, astringent tastes also help with absorption and bitter taste stimulates all other tastes. Understanding them and how they relate to our individual constitution can help us make better choices to promote and maintain health.

According to Ayurveda, we are born with a unique constitution, which is an individual combination of the three Doshas, or principles that govern the function of our bodies on the physical, mental and emotional levels. These three energies are Vata, Pitta & Kapha. Disease is caused by an imbalance of any of the Doshas and by the presence of ama, or toxic food byproducts (foods which are not digested) According to Ayurveda, the best preventive medicine and support of the natural healing process is a diet & lifestyle specific to the constitutional needs of the individual.

Incompatible Foods

According to Ayurveda texts certain foods are healthy when consumed alone but when taken in combination with other foods they generate harmful chemicals in the body. Such as:
